A modern, purpose-built and state-of-the-art emergency, surgical and critical healthcare facility on the Canberra Hospital campus 
PROJECT OVERVIEW
This $500 million Canberra Hospital expansion delivered a new eight-storey emergency, surgical and critical care facility.
Located on Yamba Drive in Garran, it is the largest healthcare infrastructure project ever undertaken by the ACT Government.
Spanning nearly 40,000sqm, this new building significantly enhances the hospital’s capacity to serve Canberra’s growing city and region.
Featuring 22 operating theatres, 55 day surgery beds, 60 ICU beds, and 39 additional emergency department treatment spaces.
SCOPE OF WORK
Related works include:
- Major site establishment and roadworks to deliver new passenger drop-off zones for the main entry and Emergency Department, including a dedicated 12-bay ambulance drop-off area
- Demolition of two end-of-life structures within the CHE Project site
- Construction of a covered pedestrian link connecting the new facility to Buildings 1, 2, and 4
- Installation of a high-level (Level 3) clinical bridge linking the new building to Building 1
- Delivery of a basement access tunnel to support servicing and back-of-house operations for the new facility
